In Lithuania there are many people who are not indifferent to the history of their country, interested in Lithuanian nation and Balts tribe past. A lot of us are fascinated by our ancestors endurance, obstinacy and the ability to resist constant attacks of conquerors trying to occupy our lands. Lithuanians and other Balts tribes did not only defend themselves but also attacked nearby regions. Soldiership was a concurrent part of human life for many centuries. Many of our ancestors weapons found in their graves and battle locations became museum exhibits. Some information about ancient fights is provided in source books. Although in order to understand better, what was ancient soldiership, one must take a battle axe, sword, spear, shield or any other weapon and feel its weight and power.
The history of the club starts back in the year 2003. Although its roots come from times much earlier than that.  First members of the club have already felt the taste of fighting, the joy of victory and the disappointment of defeat.
Varingis is a living history club, which unifies people interested in the history of X-XIII century Balts tribes soldiership and lifestyle, the most interesting time of our Fatherland-the dawn of our state. Varingis members weaponary and clothing are made with reference to archeological and historical research information. Besides a material culture-clothes, weapons, jewellery and daily living needs, we are interested in the spiritual culture of our ancestry with its traditions, beliefs, songs... A lot of ancient culture elements have survived to this day. Our goal is to collect them, understand the ancestors wisdom. experience and pass it on to the future generations. We try our best to get closer to our living history so that other people, looking at us and our demonstrated fights, could at least for a moment feel the live whiff of the past.
The club lives by its own inner rules, but our doors are open to everyone who is interested in living history and ready to spare this purpose some time and money which are necessary to get clothes and weapons. If you want to join our club or invite us to your organised event, get in touch with us.
